Do you remember your first job interviews?

I’m a nervous person when it comes to this formal eye to eye conversation .. Every single details has to be close to perfect .. Starting from the way you sit, your eye contact, your body language, punctuality and your replies to each of their killer question

After a few sessions of interview, I became more confident and learnt that doing a tiny research of the company you are going for the interview would help you to give a better answer and you might get extra mark too .. heheeh

However these days, the fresh grads seems to be very unappreciative, ignorant and low business ethics .. Today I am supposed to sit in with 2 fresh grads that has showed some interest in the job vacancy that our company has posted .. These two candidates have been phone screened before I extended them the interview session ..

One girl were supposed to come at 11 am and by eleven no calls no nothing .. waited for another half hour and decided to call her .. Got her on the phone, and her reason for not turning up was she has decided to pursue a short course .. WHAT??? Do you think that is valid?? You decide to pursue a course over night and please have some courtesy to call if you are not interested .. Don’t make people wait.

Second candidate is due at 2pm .. It’s 2.30pm and since I had a bad start I didn’t bother calling the candidate .. Suddenly my phone rang and he said he is stuck in the traffic .. Gave him another 30 minutes or so .. but you know what, NO SHOW again. So i tried reaching his mobile, not picking up. Not sure whether he met in an accident or got kidnapped .. But can you imagine this is the quality of fresh grads that Malaysia has ..

And this is not all .. I have had some phone screening session whereby the interviewee asked me to hold on (this is after i asked whether it is convenient for him/her to talk) .. I shall not go on with this, coz it is heartache to even think of it.

I rest my case today and hope for the best for tomorrow’s session.
